The "Onliest" One Man Band

Aldophus Bell Plays the Blues

What can you say to a man who will sell you his life story for 15 bucks.

I mean, is that even a fair price?

Adolphys Bell thinks so, and he will toss in a CD in the bargain.

I watched Aldophus at the Columbia Blues, Beer, & BBQ this Saturday afternoon. His One Man Band warmed up crowd up for the evening show with more than good music. He is in every respect an entertainer and one that not only works hard at his craft but loves what he does, and he does it very well.

Born in Birmingham Alabama in 1944, his father dying before his birth, Aldophus worked the cotton fields until he was 18 and the family moved to Pittsburgh. George Benson became his idol and inspiration to perform. Four years later he had a band but he couldn't get reliable sideman, so Aldophus bought a pawn shop set of drums and taught himself to play. With a bluesy harmonica and a low groaning gravely voice to accompany the drums and lead guitar, he is without a doubt the ONLIEST "One Man Band."
